The conventional wisdom is that the forces creating a fertile musical environment were:
The punk rock explosion blowing out of London and New York,
an experimental campus radio station (KDVS),
free time in a famously quiet, rural college town,
proximity to venues in Sacramento and San Francisco
and a sense of loss from the demise of the California pioneer mythos.
These were also Cold War Reagan years.

The purpose of the site is to organize photographs, flyers, links,
and other artifacts from that scene into a coherent picture.
I'm optimistic that this site can provide a sense of the scene to those who were not there
and a trove of musical and personal memories for those who were.

If you have - or know someone who has - photographs, flyers, links, interviews, articles
or other artifacts related to the 1980's Davis music scene,
or if you want to suggest corrections or additions,
please contact me.
